But judging from your comment, it turns out it was California and not Maine. Pfff, quite a relief to find out I'm not turning senile :-)

A Thousand Splendid Suns is far far better than The Kite Runner but its also very depressing about these 2 abused women! I quit on his third book as it was so awful. Something bout The Mountains Echoed.

But it didn't invite me to read more by the same author ;-)
