Badly Written Erotica
This list encompasses all subgenres of erotica and is meant for books that so mangle the English language via continuity issues/spelling/grammar/word usage/bad editing or proofreading that it inhibits the full enjoyment of the story. It may also contain books that have poorly created story/character arcs as well as some, or all, of the previously stated issues.

I'd been looking for a list like this and am glad I found yours :-) Some erotica stories are really very, very badly written. Lots of textual mistakes. wrong tense for a verb, and so on. ..."
I completely agree with you! I need to add several more to this list, unfortunately.

I had to add a few more...

By all means, please do at any time! Thanks for contributing. :D

I sometimes wonder whether most erotica on Amazon (KIndle editions) is badly written, textually speaking I mean, as it seems to be rare to find a well-written story.
The degree of mistakes in a Kindle edition seems to vary, from just a few to so many that it really annoys the hell out of me and spoils the story... I very, very rarely came across even a single mistake in the paperback editions of erotica I've read.

Agreed.
I believe this comes about because, in most cases, in order to have a book published as either a hardback or paperback, it must go through the entire, lengthy editing process by highly qualified editors and staff. To be self-published and offered on an ebook platform, an author needn't go through any of these processes and thus we the readers must suffer the unfinished product.
I've also found that although many ebook authors thank/mention their 'editor', that upon closer inspection of said person that he/she is indeed NOT a qualified editor/proofer, but is instead a mere friend or acquaintance of the author who has somehow convinced people that they are a credible editor. After all, if you are a not very good writer how would you know if you are using a not so good editor?
Personally, I'd rather see authors save their money and hire an educated, qualified editor to tend their work. Just because it's difficult to get a publishing house to accept your work is no reason to put unfinished, badly written work out there for the unsuspecting readership.
That being said, have you ever seen how many people rave about how well-written a book is only to read it yourself and discover it is truly awful? I suppose that if the readers are so ill-educated as to find these books 'well-written', then why bother actually going through the effort of properly writing and editing?
I was once castigated after one of my reviews that I "shouldn't write about how well a book is written, but instead just write about the story". I answered that, for me, what makes a book worth purchasing and reading IS how well it is written and edited. Otherwise, any numpty with a half-decent idea can offer that up and call themselves an author!
lol Sorry, I'll stop ranting now. This is a huge issue for me. I really hate feeling duped by authors when I purchased their book in good faith that it will be a completed work.

Or just very poorly executed 'stories' as a whole. Proofreading doesn't come into it for some, it seems. And others make you wonder what on earth the editor has been doing...
