I (like many on this site, I'm sure) am serious about publishing a book and was wondering how long it took your first book to get picked up? Did you use an agent?

I can't say strongly enough that everyone's experience is different, but it took me nine years to get published. At the end, I did have an agent.

Why did you decide to go back and write prequels? And why for The Two Princess of Bamarre and Ella Enchanted? I loved the prequel for Bamarre, but didn't enjoy Ogre Enchanted as much, to my disappointment, just due to personal preferences. Thank you so much for writing! I can't wait for your next book to come out!
