The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo is so different than your other books - what inspired you to take a different turn?

Taylor Jenkins Reid You know, it was less of a conscious decision and more of a natural consequence of my interests. I knew after One True Loves that I was drawn to larger stories. I've prided myself on writing realistic, honest stories about real women. But I knew I wanted to turn my eye to ideas with a little bit more spectacle.

But I think the real difference between this book and my others is the tone and the themes, and those are simply the consequence of where I'm at in my life.

It has felt entirely organic and I'm happy to say that so far I've always felt like I'm writing what's in my heart.
