Goodreads asked Emil Ferris:

What’s the best thing about being a writer?

Emil Ferris I think that the best thing about being a writer is having a socially approved method of escapism. Of course what redeems the act of world building as something more than simply 'escapism' is that often the writer allows the real problems of our present reality to be recloaked and addressed within their written, imagined world. This event represents the very soul of catharsis and the reason that art is redemptive for both the artist and their patron.
