Goodreads asked Erica Bauermeister:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Erica Bauermeister For me, writer's block almost always means that there is an issue that needs to be resolved – a revelation a character needs, a plot twist that isn't apparent yet but feels necessary for progression and pacing. I've found that shoving around at those things is worse than useless. I need to step back, take a walk, swim laps, paint a room. Or cook – that's one of the best ones. That repetitive motion helps unlock the creative block and I can usually get going.
