When I wrote my first book, CAROLINE, 41 year ago, my favorite type was an alpha hero who was handsome, sardonic, smart, and strong. Pretty much perfect, except he just had to soften up and fall in love. :-) NOW, though, I love a hero who has put up a shield against vulnerability for a reason (not because he is necessarily a "flawed" hero). I love to work through his struggles to become more vulnerable - not just to the heroine, but to others.
