I also love old noir. I found a movie on Netflix called "Laura" and have watched it about six times partly because of the narcissist Clifton Webb plays and his interesting dialogue and delivery. I also love the P.I. in it and how he pronounces words. Have you ever seen the movie? If so did you like the scene where he shines the light into Gene Tierney's eyes? Could you see Dinger do something like that?

Having finished "All Quiet on the Western Front" by Erich Maria Remarque I was musing over a particular part and also thinking of your classic war memoir "Proud Bastards", that I also read. One of the horrors of Remarque's book was the unnecessary surgery done on the German soldiers' feet by the sadistic military doctors. It seemed a strange thing to do on a regular basis, Were the American docs sadistic?
