A fellow Scot and Ohioan, excellent ! Scotland is rich in myth and magic, do you find that having a Scottish background helps you with your writing? And where did you get the idea for Beasts of Extraordinary Circumstance ?

Ruth Emmie Lang Hi Emelia! I'm sure my Scottish heritage had an influence over my love of magic and fairy tales in some way or another. The idea for Beasts came from an image I had in my head of a beekeeper standing over a glowing beehive. At first, I was just planning on drawing it, but once I got going, it became obvious that I was a better writer than I was an artist, so I started writing what eventually became Beasts. :)

This is an odd question but I am curious. I see you are also Scottish and I am wondering if you think this helps with writing fantasy books? It seems Scots are born story tellers. Were you influenced by family who told stories?
