You said in Writing Magic that your dad was the inspiration for Dave in Dave at Night... who or what inspired the character of Irma Lee and/or Solly? I LOVE your books, thanks for writing for us dreamers :)

Thank you! Irma Lee is named after the daughter of the woman who babysat for me when I was little, but the character is distantly based on the historical adopted daughter of A'Lelia Walker, who inherited the fortune of Madame C. J. Walker. Solly is invented, but he's a lot like my late friend Nedda Sindin.
