Courtney asked Gail Carson Levine:

I got the teens at my library to fall in love with "Forgive Me, I Meant to Do It", so much so that we might need to buy more copies. If anyone asks me why I so heavily promoted this little gem, I'll simply tell them to read the title! The title simply sells it so well! How do you come up with titles that fit so well for your works? I see that some are fairly similar to each other, but overall they're varied.

Gail Carson Levine Thank you so much for spreading the word about FORGIVE ME, I MEANT TO DO IT! The title seems to me to be the essence of the Williams poem, so that's where it came from, and the marketing people at my publisher liked it. But often they don't, and we go back and forth, and I submit lists of possible titles, and I pull out a lot of hair--and, eventually, there's a title.
