Hi Lisa - I really enjoyed listening to this book on Audible. It is so sad this could actually happen to a family. It's horrible enough they're poor, but to rip them apart seems completely unreasonable. Not bad enough, some of them end up with horrific people at the Children's Home and are abused. Thank you for this absolutely well-written story. Do you know where your next book will take you?

Lisa, my next book is also a dual timeframe story with the historical section centering on some history in the WWI era. It's too early to give details or even a title. I'm guessing it will published in about a year. You can be on my newsletter list to receive updates by going to my website and signing up for my (occasional) e-newsletter. So glad you enjoyed the audible. I love the job the narrators did.

Not so much a question, but I want you to know I read Before We Were Yours. This was my first novel of yours and I am hooked! This book was very haunting and one I choice to read in my book club. It created a lot of discussion. A great book I highly recommend to anyone! what would you suggest I read of yours next?

Lisa...Judy Stanford was named that by her adoptive parents, the Staffords. Since Avery Stafford is her grand daughter, it is assumed that Judy Stafford married at one point and had a son whose name was also Staffird. Did Judy marry a man with last name Stafford so she became Judy Stafford Stafford. I’m confused as to how Judy Stafford’s name carried over to her son??? Please clarify. I loved the book!

It really disturbed me the way Camellia was treated. Is it true that the fair haired light eyed children were more adoptable and treated better? Not that the fate of any of the children was good but poor Camellia did not have a chance. It seemed similar to the way Hitler wanted a fair skinned nation. Camellia was molested and discarded like trash.
