Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Remy Lai For a long time I had this image of two boys secretly baking cakes. But I had no idea why cakes and why secretly. It was only when I realised that they can't speak English that the story clicked into place.

For me, many stories start with an image of a character(s) in my mind, and I keep chewing on that until that character's story becomes clear.
