Hi Leslie, I came across your profile here seeing that you are an engineer and author like me. I am new on this platform and would like to meet experienced authors like yourself to collaborate in various ways. Best regards, I follow you on Twitter as well. Would you like to be friends here? Best Regards, Mehmet

Hi Mehmet,
My apologies for replying to your question so late - no excuses except that I am not very good at checking these things.
Yes, I qualified as an engineer and practiced as same for a few years. Whether that helps one's writing I don't know. It certainly makes one conscious that the story has to logically 'fit together', that there should not be unintended loose ends, etc. I have been on Goodreads for several years now and still don't understand how to do various tasks. Unfortunately too much modern software is badly designed, being designed by the geek for the geek rather for Joe Punter who has no idea, and Goodreads is no exception! I don't think I would classify myself as an 'experienced author'. Yes, I have written a few books and yes, I am still writing. How many does one have to write and/or how long does one have to have written for to become 'experienced'? If you wish to click the 'friends' button, by all means do.
Kind reagds, Leslie

Mr. Garland, I just read your post on Goodreads wherein you list a series of novellas. Just before that you state what your stories contain and they require contemplation. Would you perhaps like to read my novels? While I have yet to read any of your books, it sounds as though I certainly may. Could you please friend me on Goodreads and perhaps compare my writing to yours, and tell me what you think?

Good day and how are you? I just read your answer. While it would be nice to get more reviews, one is not necessary if you happen to read what I've written. I found what you said about contemplative books to be to my liking. I've yet to read any of your books and I missed my free opportunity. My free opportunity has passed also. That was on Smashwords. My books are now only through Amazon and Createspace.

I know this probably isn't the kind of thing you expect but it's a genuine question. I joined Goodreads a year ago adding my sci fi book Masquerade, and then my second book The Spyrian. I have trouble finding either of my books under my author name of Kitty Cooper, or my real name of Catherine Smaridge. I did manage to stumble across Masquerade the other day, and it showed a blank book not the cover. Why is this?
