How do you decide on a book topic?

Lawrence Wright this is the hardest question for me. The answer is I don't know. Sometimes I read an article that awakens interest. Occasionally an editor will make a suggestion. But right now I'm longing for a new book idea and haven't got one. I usually find one, in the end, but I've never found a sure-fire way of discovering it.
