B.A.
B.A. asked Laurie Halse Anderson:

How do you develop strong characters that can drive a story? Do you have any tips for overcoming obstacles in character development?

Laurie Halse Anderson Create scenarios in which your characters have to make hard choices. Allow them to make bad choices so you can see how they deal with the consequences. Focus less on the externals of your character (hair color, taste in music, etc) and more on how they react to pressure.

What kind of obstacles do you mean?
