Goodreads asked Sherry Leclerc:

What mystery in your own life could be a plot for a book?

Sherry Leclerc My father's mother died when he was an infant. He was the youngest of 10 siblings, and his father, now a widower, had to keep working but had no way to take care of all the kids himself. Because of this, the siblings were all split up. Some went to live with other family members and some went to live in orphanages.

Because of this unfortunate situation, I've grown up with a lot of unanswered questions about my own family, any number of which could be the plot of a story. But I think if I were to choose, I would start with the mystery of my ancestry.

I know who my paternal grandparents were insofar as what their names were. But discovering who they really were, who their parents were, where they came from and so on, would make an interesting plot for a book. As a fantasy author, weaving some fantastical elements into what was discovered could be very interesting. In fact, I know of more than one fantasy book that used the mystery of a person's unknown ancestry quite effectively.
