Michael Beadley asked Ariele Sieling:

Hi Ariele, I really like the the first four Rove city books and am going to read all of them. Can I please ask some advice. Did you pay for an editor for your first book? Would you advise others to do so? Also any advice on getting your first book to sell when you are completely unknown? Kind regards Michael

Ariele Sieling Michael, I'm glad you enjoyed the Rove City books! I did pay an editor, and if you have the means, I do recommend it. They will help improve the quality of your work, and you can learn a lot about writing and revision with a capable editor.

In terms of getting your first book to sell, I recommend writing more books. Many readers (myself included!) are looking for an experience when they pick up a book, but not every book is going to be the right experience for them. So by writing more books, you can engage with more readers.

In addition, I always encourage planning. Make a marketing plan and follow through on it. It takes time for people to learn who you are and to find your work, so be patient and keep at it!

Thanks for your questions!
