Laurie Palmer
Laurie Palmer asked K.K. Edwards:

Do you ever feel like Ginger when you are writing a story? Also, have you written other books and, if so, when/where can I read them?

K.K. Edwards Re: Your first question--I've felt compelled to write stories, sure. Not for personal reasons, per se--although, one might argue that the need to write is wholly personal. Ginger is more confident of her writing abilities than I was at her age, but I'm quite sure I write better than she does now. :)

I've written 6 novels.. .

The first, GINGERSNAP, has been trunked (with good reason), but there are parts in there that are good-- really good--and I've plucked from that novel.

TWINK is about a young man, arrested for speeding and DUI, who shares a jail cell overnight with a really handsome drifter who might be a psychopath. Or worse. Or much worse. TWINK refuses to crest 52K words, so it's pretty short for a novel. But it's good and I hope to find it a home.

MY FRIEND MIKE, psychological suspense, is about a young woman, arrested for stabbing her stepfather to death, who can't remember the last ten years of her life. MIKE is a dark novel dealing w/tough subject matter. We'll see how it goes.

EFFIN' ALBERT is a fan favorite. It's about two kids, brothers, who find themselves living with a killer. Everybody who's read this novel loves Mike and Albert. I love those boys, too!

CHERRY, which landed me a literary agent, is about a lonely, miserable man--twice-divorced, a drinker--who ends up in a relationship with a suicidal gay male hooker, the sweet and innocent Cherry. Ultimately, CHERRY is a love story with elements of suspense.

My latest is SOULLESS, about two boys--a 13 y/o bully and his 9 y/o victim--who end up as allies one crazy summer, when they stumble across a murderer's killing field. Thriller all the way.

Now that I've broken the publishing barrier with SOMEBODY KNOWS SOMETHING (squeee!), hoping that good things happen soon with those other works. We'll see!
