I was so excited to find out that 'The Book of Night' was set in the Happy Valley. I was wondering when Charlie says 'There is a place you can learn to swing a broadsword' was she referring to the Association for Renaissance and Medieval Swordsmanship (ARMS) at the Massachusetts Renaissance Center in Amherst?

Holly Black I was actually thinking of Pioneer Valley Fencing in Easthampton where they do heavy weapons as well -- I had no idea they were doing ARMS in Amherst! That's right down the street from me.
