Michael J. Sullivan:
When will the next Riyria Chronicles book come out? How many books will there be in that series?
Michael J. Sullivan
Hey thanks for asking. Next up is Drumindor (Riyria Chronicle #5). The book is written, but it still has to go through beta reading, copyediting, and gamma reading. The hope is to have it out next summer. These days we launch books with a Kickstarter, and we usually launch those in February.
As to how many books in that series . . . I don't know. While most of my books are written in a way that I complete the entire series before releasing the first one (I did this with The Riyria Revelations, Legends of the First Empire, and Rise and Fall), the Chronicle books are a bit different. They are purposefully written as standalone tale (except for books #1 and #2 which are a standalone set), I think of them like Sherlock Holmes type books where each tells its own complete story - but they are united by the same characters going on one adventure after another.
Because of the "standalone" aspect of the books, I don't know the exacdt number at this time. A lot has to do with whether people are still enjoying reading about the pair (in which case I'll write another), or if I get the impression that they have "run their course", I'll stop.
So, the general motis operandi has been (a) release the book (b) take the temparture of the readers to determine if they want more and (c) write more or stop depending on the answer to (b).
We'll see how people feel about Drumindor, as it will dictate if another book would be well received.

Hey Mike! I just finished reading The Death of Dulgath and The Making of it, and I loved them both. The book was a classic R+H "thriller", and the making unveiled new aspects of how your stories come together. Anyways, I was curious if you were still going through with creating a "rare edition" collection for the Riyria series, as proposed on The Death of Dulgath Kickstarter? Thanks, Jake

Hey Michael! I have seen a new book title "Drumindor" is it finished and coming out soon? that is so exciting! of course "Age of Legend" is coming out so I have that to look forward to. I also wanted to say thanks! for what must be the tenth time, I have got my short story called "A House Out of Time" published and I do not imagine that would have happened without you taking the time to give me some golden advice.

Hi Michael, I noticed on your giveaway that you inserted an enlarged copy of your front cover in the text. How did you do that? Was there a selection you used, or HTML? Thanks for your consideration of this question. Dean Thompson - Activism Author of HER CHOICE
