I am reading your books in order and have just finished What Came Before He Shot Her. I am in awe of your transition from a 20 year series line to an incredibly deep and intimate backstory of another hero. What encouraged you to delve into this story? Is this tactic something that you would consider doing again? I applaud your bravery, as well as your skill in that endeavor.

Elizabeth George Thanks so much. I wanted to write a novel in which a young boy makes all the wrong decisions for all the right reasons. I wanted readers to care as much about him as they cared about Helen, who was murdered. I also wanted to challenge myself with an omniscient narration.
