I spent several years living in Memphis and Southaven after I got out of the Marines in '69. I graduated from Memphis State in '72. You attended Miss St and Ole Miss. The areas mentioned above were frequently in your early books and still are occasionally. Do those early years still have significant influence on your writing?
John Grisham
Sure. A writer can never escape his or her past . We write about what we know, and that is where we come from. I’m sure I will return to Memphis and the mid-south area time and time again.

could we get a prequel? a back story on Lucien Willbanks! I'm currently reading "A Time For Mercy" (on a streak, following "A Time to Kill" and "Sycamore Row"). I'd love to read an epic, spanning generations of the Willbanks family, that celebrates Lucien's fights for equality and also his demise into alcohol.
