Anna
Anna asked Elizabeth George:

In your novel Why Came Before He Shot Her, Inspector Lynley's Wife is shot. In the TV Mystery, Helen leaves him after the death of their child. Do you have much control when your novel has been turned into a series on TV?

Elizabeth George Essentially, when you sell your book to television or film, you pretty much kiss it goodbye. A good example is "The Handmaid's Tale" as well as "Testament", which is the sequel to "The Handmaid's Tale." The television series is excellent, but it's not at all like the book save for a few details. You'll be interested to know that there is a new Lynley series in the works, with filming already happening. Helen is in the series, and very much alive. But like "The Handmaid's Tale", it's a whole lot different from the books.
