Seb Kirby There are a few! Here's one. When I was eleven, my family was fully signed up to emigrate to New Zealand, where my father would take a job as a wood machinist. A few days before departure, we sat in silence in our front room with my father, mother and brother. No one dare speak. Some secret agreement emerged that none of us wanted to go. So, we stayed in England. There would have been a doppelganger of me raised as a Kiwi. Someone very different yet undeniably the same.
