How much and what type of research do you perform for your books?

Michelle Moran Before writing each book, I visit the country where the book is set and try to speak with any experts of that particular era (either in that country or here in the US). I spend a great deal of time with my nose buried in research books as well.

Hello. ^^ Do you have any tips for those who haven't attempted historical fiction yet and haven't written in a couple of years? ^^' I can't believe it's been 5 years since I last read your books. I'm rereading Cleopatra's Daughter - that's my favourite. :)
