Steven Jacobson asked Vincent Lowry:

Hi Vincent, I'm new to goodreads and want to post my book for review for promoting and for gaining friends. what advice can you give me? Best Steven Jacobson

Vincent Lowry Hi Steven,
My advice is to list one free copy of your book on the Goodreads giveaway program. You will need a hard copy of it. Run the competion for a full 90 days, picking the middle of the month for the start and finish. It is the fastest way for people to add your book to their shelves.

You will need to pay for the free book and the shipment when a winner is selected. Some authors don't like this program because of that fact, or the fact that many of the people who add the book to their shelves don't buy it right away. I understand those arguments, but this program at least gets your book noticed. You can also do something similar on Amazon, but that is for KDP Select books only and that is to offer the e-book for free for up to 5 days. I did the Amazon route too and found my book on the poetry best sellers list.
Of course, make sure you have a polished book first. If you don't, it really won't matter what you do.
For reviews, see my Authors/Readers group to read about what you can do. My group has thousands of posts on author tips.
Best,
-Vincent
