What inspired you to write Catalyst and how do you feel about it now?

I wrote it because I was so angry at the pressures that teens have to deal with. I also wanted to explore the issues faced by kids from abusive families who become targets for bullies (Teri) and a teen who looks like she has the perfect life (Kate) but who has many struggles under the surface.
If I had the chance to write it again, I'd tell it from two POVS, so we'd see the world through Teri's eyes as well as Kate's.

I know you're busy working on Ashes, but do you have another realistic fiction title in mind? I bought and read The Impossible Knife of Memory as soon as it was out (twice), and recommend it to my students every day. No pressure, but...I love your books!
