Helen Kord asked K.J. Charles:

I just wanted to say that I finished The Secret Casebook of Simon Feximal and almost wept with joy at inclusion of Jo because they were the first inclusion of a non-binary character in literature I've met and Robert's politeness and unwillingness to misgender them was so touching :) I was wondering if you were planning on more non-binary/trans characters in your future works?

K.J. Charles Oh, I am so pleased you liked Jo! Thank you for saying so. I'm happy to know that. (Can I recommend EE Ottoman's work for a really wide range of characters? Try Song of the Spring Moon Waning!)

I would really like to tell Jo's story at some point--there's a sort of concept stewing, but not yet coming into focus. I need to pull my head out of the Regency before I can think straight, I've been stuck in 1819-20 for a year now...
