Linda asked Christopher Golden:

I love Hellboy, especially for his vulnerability and desire NOT to stand out. Do you feel that the Hellboy movies with Ron Perlman do justice to your vision of him?

Christopher Golden I wouldn't call it "my" vision, since I didn't create him, but if you mean do the movies do justice to the Hellboy of my imagination, I'd say no. I really like the first movie. It's fun and atmospheric and has enough elements from the comic and enough of del Toro's aesthetic that it's a pleasure to watch. For me, the second one is different. If it weren't Hellboy, I could enjoy it purely as a del Toro film. But as a Hellboy story, there was too much epic fantasy for me and not enough quiet darkness. Just my two cents. I know plenty of people who are unfamiliar with the comics who love it, and that makes total sense.
