Hello MJS. I am going to find your book The First Empire. I enjoyed just reading what you have here on this page. I will start it in less than a week and let you know how I like it. My reading group is looking for a new author to start in on. We just finished all of JRRT books and so a new adventure begins in Jan. Is there a better starting book from you?

Hey Annamarie. The First Empire series of books (which starts with Age of Myth) isn't yet released. It will be coming out from Del Rey in June 2016. So while pre-order pages are up, you can't read it just yet.
As for what to read when starting with my books. I suggest Theft of Swords, which is book #1 & book #2 of the Riyria Revelations. That is a six-book series, but because the publisher released it in three, 2-book omnibus editions you only have to buy 3 books...a nice deal.
For some people, they prefer to start with The Crown Tower, which is book #1 of The Riyria Chronicles. The third book of that series just came out in ebook and we are just a few weeks away from the audio and hardcover releases. The Riyria Chronicles actually take place BEFORE the events of The Riyria Revelations so people who prefer a chronological reading order, that is why they start with them. But, as I said, I prefer "order of publication" as it exposes the readers to the world and the characters in the way I intended to introduce people to them. I built that series so that a lot of the information is doled out a bit at a time so the more you read the deeper understanding you have for the people and the setting. Thanks for asking.
Oh, and if your reading group does read my books, I'll be more than happy to do an "ask the author" as part of that. There are actually two groups here on goodreads right now reading Theft of Swords for their monthly read, and I've enjoyed coming in there and answering questions for the members.

When is the audiobook for Rhune coming out? Surely there will be an audiobook?? Audible doesn't have any mention of Rhune, it's not possible to pre-order it. That must mean that it's not even being currently recorded. How long will it take? I don't want to be the last on the planet to experience Rhune, after everybody else has read it and talked about it for ages.

Hi Michael. I contacted you about this a year or two ago inquiring about any plans to let GraphicAudio adapt your Riyria books. You said there were some issues with publishers and rights, and that you'd think about it. Now I'm in my bed listening to GraphicAudio adaptn of Brandon's Words of Radiance, marveling at how amazingly well done it is. Any updates you wanna share in this regard? Would love Riyria GraphicAudio!
