Alicia asked Laura Kaye:

What advice do you have for someone who would like to write a book? I have always wanted to do a children's book however now I am thinking more and more about an adult novel....

Laura Kaye Hi Alicia - First, read widely in the genre you want to write. Second, make some preparations to write the book - do character sheets so develop your character, outline some chapters to organize your thoughts about the plot. Third, just start writing - the biggest obstacle to writing a novel is finishing, so dive in while your passion for it is hot! Fourth, revise, revise, revise. Find a critique partner who will give you honest, critical feedback. There are also lots of great books on writing a novel you could check out to hone your craft. Good luck!
