What in your experience has been the hardest thing about Writing?

P.D. Workman Accounting… I can love just about every part of my writing business other than the accounting! Someday I will have minions to do it for me.

When I first started writing books, I ended most of my books the same way. By killing off the protagonist and anyone else who got in the way. It was a quick and easy way to end a story. But not so satisfying for the reader. I am publishing a lot of my old work as well as new work, and one of the challenges is rewriting so that they have cogent storylines and satisfying endings. Some of them are still not the happiest of endings, and sometimes it takes writing a book over three times before I find a way not to kill the protagonist in the end and to have the ending that works, but even if it is hard, it has been a very satisfying process.
