Hi Ruta! I just finished reading Salt to the Sea, and it will definitely go on my all time favorites shelf. I just want to know how did it feel writing Alfred's character? He made my teeth cringe...ugh!

Thanks for reading "Salt to the Sea," and reflecting on Alfred. I know, he made me cringe too! But his character and voice came through to me so clearly that he was actually one of the easier characters to write. For me, it's sometimes easier to write the villains. When I was writing Alfred's dialogue I would often shake my head and think, "You are so, so awful." :)
