Hey Ruta! I'm from the U.S and I LOVE YOUR BOOKS! Out of The Easy is my personal favorite (I'm sorry I'm fangirling so much right now). I was just wondering what is your most favorite novel that you have written or someone else? Also, can I feature this on my blog?(http://floralpatternbooks.blogspot.com/)

Hello Amena!
Thanks so much for your kind words and for submitting a question. Sure, I'd be honored if you featured the reply on your blog.
It's so hard to choose a favorite of the novels I've written. That would be like choosing a favorite child. :) But I will say that I experienced the most joy while writing "Out of the Easy." I had such fun writing that novel and the characters are still "with" me. Writing "Between Shades of Gray" and "Salt to the Sea" was very transformative, but also emotionally challenging to stay present within the tragedy and suffering. But writing "Out of the Easy" was pure joy!

Met you in STL during your book tour! I am a refugee from Bosnia and you asked me to share my story--HOW DO YOU GET THE COURAGE TO DO SO?! Writing about events that impacted your life and are still very much alive today in people all around you--how do you gather up the strength to tell those stories without fear for those same people who whispered the words?

Hey Ruta! You visited my school (Tampa Prep) two years ago, and we spoke about how identity and family (or lack there of) play very important, but very different roles in both "Between Shades of Gray" and "Out of the Easy". I was wondering if the same themes are going to play as important of a role in your new book as they did in the first two. Also, how did the research processes differ between the three novels?
