What inspired you to become an author? Was it a passion for writing, reading, etc.?

P.C. Cast I've always wanted to be an author. I wrote my first book in first grade (it didn't get published - yet). I can't remember not being able to read and write. I've always been obsessed by both. I think it was imprinted into my DNA! (My cousin is Pulitzer Prize winner Anne Tyler.)
