Were any of your characters inspired by any figures through history?

Deborah Harkness my goodness yes! Gerbert is Pope Sylvester II, Matthew himself is based on the historical figure Matthew Roydon, and all of the historical characters in SHADOW are based on real figures. In the back of SHADOW there is a list of the characters in the book and those based on historical figures are marked, if you are interested.
