My favorite couple is Mathilde and her husband in a famous short story, "The Necklace." Mathilde is young and full of foolish fantasy. When she makes a mistake that costs all her husband's savings and shatters her dreams, her husband resolutely rights their course.
He lets his wife learn a lesson from the experience, as he continues to love and accept her for who she is, although he lives a poorer life by doing so. This is my definition of "unconditional" love.
