I just finished Firefly Lane and it struck home with me as I have a teenage girl that reminds me so much of Marah. My question is when you start a new novel do you already know how it's all going to play out and end or does it evolve as you start writing and get more into the story?

And yes, I always think I know the ending of a novel before I begin, and I am usually not far off. The story is never quite what I expect, but the beginning and ending are. I think that's because the whole story is a journey towards an end I love. Thanks!

You spend so much time on the depth of character development that I feel like I know everyone in your books personally. You nail the accuracy of emotion of so many life situations, it's one of my favorite things about your work. Is it difficult to come up with so many unique individuals without overlapping their personalities?
