Once done, I hired a screenwriter to put it in a film format. That done I hired friends and a few pros, and along with my ex-brother-in-law who was a recording eng. for Fantasy....we spent a good month and a half recording the book.
I built props...(the cricket, the sculptures, the watermelon ink well and pen, the strange object Fred brings to noname...etc etc ect.
Some of the storyboard illustrations were , (IMO, of course) absolutely magic. And I loved the 3 years or so that it took to complete.
I contacted Iantha, Brautigans daughter who basically but the kabosh on me proceeding. Tried to buy the option but the agent wanted an outrageous amount of money.
So, it has sat in the closet, swimming in the dust of the imagination and hopes lost...for an eternity.
If wishes were fishes.....lol
He was NOT a great writer...but good enough to grab my stoned head and drag me into his world for a good chunk of my life. I had a good time. Thanks Richard.
