Rich (nyrjw) | 14 comments I started this book on election day, 2012, and I couldn't have picked a better time to do so. I'm about halfway through at the moment, and already I know it deserves a thread, a slot on the bookshelf here, and some discussion.

I've had my ups and downs with Beck; sometimes he gets on my nerves, and sometimes he is great. I've previously only read his AN INCONVENIENT BOOK, which I still love and sometimes go back and read a chapter here and there when appropriate. I wasn't expecting a lot from him as a thriller writer, but so far I am happily impressed. There is a paranoid campiness to it, but it isn't off-putting. The characters are adequate and the writing is much better than expected (and relatively better than many other published writers, but this could be due to great editing and copyediting as much as anything).

At a time when conservatives might need to escape the reality that we find ourselves in post-election, without leaving reality too far behind, this is an enjoyable book. I'll reserve any further comment for when I'm finished.

How's it going with the book Rich? Do you still like it? Did you see the video trailer for his new book Agenda 21?

I finished this one long hence. I'd call it an adequate book, but not nearly the blood-pumping level of a Koontz or a Robert Liparulo. But that's pretty high up, rare air. I'm not sure he went deep enough in developing characters. Three stars for me. OTOH, I loved *Being George Washington.* That's his best one.

Personally, I'm not big on conspiracy stories nowadays since the people trying to destroy (or at least "transform") this country are out in the open, telegraphing their intentions for all to see. No conspiracy needed.

On the other hand, Agenda 21 sounds like a good dystopia story. I might check that one out.
