Josh Morgan (bookbum9) | 9 comments what are everyone's opinion on the two shows. I personally like both especially since they are completely different from each other. Once upon a time stays pretty close to the orginial fairytales we all know and love with a little bit of a twist. Where Grimm is kinda a crime drama with fairytales and weird creatures.

I haven't watch Once Upon a Time, but I really enjoy Grimm. The previews didn't do much for me, but I had a few people telling me to check it out, and I'm glad I did.

Colin | 278 comments Grimm has gotten much better now that they have given it a better FX budget. The vesen faces look less like ass now, and you can sort of see what kind of animal/creature they are.

Can't comment on Once Upon a Time, other than it is filmed locally i think.

Ryne | 68 comments For me Grimm's gotten a lot better but I can't help but see it as a lighter version of Supernatural. Once Upon a Time however, I love to watch every week. Seeing them explore characters I grew up reading and watching movies about is a lot of fun. It's also the only fantasy oriented show I've gotten my ADD mom to watch.

Rainer Dela Cuesta (delacuesta) | 28 comments I have never watched Grimm, but I really love Once Upon A time! I love the flashbacks based on actual fairy tales.

Kathryn Weis | 126 comments I love, love, love Grimm. Watch it with my boyfriend every week.

Once Upon a Time is okay... I'm not caught up with it, but I used to watch it regularly. It just doesn't keep my attention. I wanted to like it more than I do. :-/

Eliste | 31 comments I really enjoy them both but in completely different ways.

I'm addicted to crime dramas, and Grimm is nice in that it combines this plus the paranormal. The second season is better, but I still think they need to get a MUCH better intro.

I love Once Upon A Time in a very little girl squee kind of way. It makes me happy just thinking about it. I love the dual lives and seeing various ways things are changed. And the costumes, oh god the costumes.

Overall, I think Once Upon A Time is a better show- tighter writing, better acting, but I still enjoy watching both.

Greg | 5 comments Hello...

I had expected to Love Grimm and was non committal on Once before seeing either....

I like them both for very different reasons....

Grimm for much the same reasons I loved Buffy.... The back up cast is so great that though I am not sold on the hero his supporting cast is excellent and I watch it for them alone.....

Once I was surprised to love for multiple reasons including its hero. I absolutely love Mr Gold he plays everyone but at his heart there is still something essentially good despite his nature.... The emotional movements of the series occasionally move to actual tears for the lies of Snow and the often unlike able and inconsistent Charming..... Sure the series has its low points but its ever involving and surprising ,.... Love seeing all the great character actors joining the cars too....

I just have afew questions about Grimm because everyone is showing the love for it, I don't mind watching it but to me there are gaps in the storyline like whats so amazing about being a Grimm all he can do is see them, he doesn't have any special strength or powers, he just seems to be a normal human being, so why do the vessen freak out when they see him, I dont know maybe its their reputation and heritage but it seems 50/50 who's gonna win a fight.
I am enjoying it even though the actual storyline is a bit weak, im just thinking its starting like supernatural.

They freak out largely due to the reputations of Grimms. You've got to remember that Grimms have been killing Vessen for a very long time.

In addition to being able to see them, Nick has his Aunt's trailer. It is full of knowledge and weapons passed down for generations on the best ways to kill Vessen.

The inability to hide and the knowledge of how to be killed are what makes a Grimm so dangerous to a Vessen.

Yeah I guess that would make him intimidating but doesn't the book just usually tell them what kind of vessen they are and not always a way of killing them, I just remember a lot of them getting shot or beat up and you kind of expect the vessen to be stronger but they aren't. I dont know im guess im looking for more distinctions between them rather than just the way they look.

Well some of the nastier ones take extra measures to put down. But many Vessen are like Monroe or the Electrician guy who just want to live a normal life and are afraid of being killed.

I'd say all of them are susceptible to being shot and beat up though, some can just handle it better, and might tear you apart before you can try.

Yeah and why don't they do Martial Arts lol, Nah joking, thanks Rob just trying to figure it out.

Thom | 3 comments I totally love both shows. As on writer previously pointed out they are very different. They continue to surprise me with the different plots they have introduced.

Is Cora going to be Once A Upon A time's next super villain or is she just a mother trying to repair a fractured relationship with her estranged daughter?

message 15: by Rod (new)

Rod (terez07) I haven't seen Grimm, but Once Upon A Time (OUAT) is one of my favorite shows on television. The producers have stated the show is about hope - and I like that. So many other top dramas just wallow in human misery. That's fine, but a show can have a lighter tone and provide solid entertainment too. OUAT's writing is very layered with complex plotting and portrayals of classic characters. People aren't good or evil just because. Also, there are few "damsels in distress" on this show. The women are intelligent, beautiful and can kick a$$. Yes, I'm a big fan.

message 16: by Katie (new)

Katie (calenmir) | 211 comments Love OUAT and have stuck with it, watched the first few episodes of Grimm and it just didn't completely hook me. I may end up watching it later but for now I'm not interested enough to stay up to date. And yes Terez, love all the strong women in OUAT. It seems more original whereas Grimm struck me as just police procedural with a supernatural twist.

message 17: by Deon (new)

Deon (noed) | 67 comments I expected to love Grimm (loving the Brothers as I did in high-school), and thought OUAT looked a little Disney for me, but I tried (and continue to watch) both. Honestly, I could not have been more wrong. OUAT isn't too "girly", or whimsical. It has depth, and gives the stories fun twists, and I really have grown attached to many of the characters. Grimm, on the other hand, I have begged my TV-mates to let me quit watching, but they love it. The characters are growing on me, and the over-arching story is getting more interesting to me, but it has one huge problem in my opinion. Take a wheel and write the names of animals, spin once weekly. Combine animal with human, rename in German, and send them in to attack/cower from/give information to the main character. Where's the influence from the Brothers in that?

message 18: by Darren (new)

Darren Humphries (darrenhf) | 96 comments GRIMM is just another competent PI/cop investigates weird stuff show enlivened by one very likeable sidekick.

OUAT wove a fabulous alternate world of fairy tales that just hooked me. The Beast from Beauty and the Beast turning out to be Rumplestiltskin was simply great storytelling. The modern stuff was less awesome, but still worked.

message 19: by Jim (new)

Jim (kskryptonian) | 202 comments I ship Regina/Emma because then Henry can have two mommies. Also, there would be the whole savior love conquering evil.

Grimm is all about the werewolf and his fox girlfriend.

Trying to figure out which is better is like trying to guess which Doctor is better. Why would I ever do that?

message 20: by Deon (new)

Deon (noed) | 67 comments In all fairness, some of Grimm is also about the Grimm's girlfriend and her creepy love affair with the cylon's uncle. I think they're doing a bang-up job with that story line. I'm still firmly in the OUAT camp, though, and furthermore I really enjoyed David Morrissey as both a Doctor and a Governor. Something about cross-overs in casting really makes my day.

For anyone like me that hasn't seen OUAT and wanted to check it out after the positive comments, it looks like all of season 1 is on Netflix Streaming.
