Hi All,

Recently someone merged author Джордж Мартин (Russian spelling of his name) to original profile George R.R. Martin, but not removed him from books that was translated to Russian, so all of them now look like this.

I'm not sure what is written in the rules about it (could not find it), but it sure would be nice to view all of Martin books that was translated to Russian on one page.

So, here is my question. Two, to be exact.
1) Is there a possibility to track author of this change (to prevent future actions of such type)?
2) Is there a possibility to undo this change? I really do not want add Russian spelling of author's name to all of these books again.

I believe both of these questions are in the sphere of competence of superlibrarians (or even GR staff).

I removed the extra GRRM.

If I'm understanding correctly, I ran into a similar problem with another author recently, and the solution is to make a separate profile with the Russian spelling, and add a notation that that's what it is. Martin's name in English should be added to the foreign editions, if it's not there already.

Thank you, but you removed the extra GRRM from one edition. That I can do too. I asked about the possibility of replacing extra GRRM by his Russian name spelling in all Russian GRRM editions at once :-)

Yes, I created a separate profile when I added the translations of GRRM books to the GR. But someone have merged it to original Martin's profile. And yes, the Martin's name in English name is already present in all his Russian editions.

There is no way to do this. It must be added to each affected edition.

This is really annoying. I've encountered several similar cases lately. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to exist any way of tracking who does these merges, so it's impossible to notify the librarians, that this isn't okay. *sigh*

I'll help with replacing the names again...

I think, I got all the books. I added a librarian note to the new profile; I hope this helps.
