What do you like to have near by to munch on when you read? What about to drink?
Lately it's been banana chips for me. Always always always a big bottle of water.

message 2: by Cyndi (new)

Cyndi (chill77) I tend to have the less healthy snacks. I like good fruit snacks (like the kids have) or cookies!

message 3: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) | 1445 comments Triscuits (reduced fat) and light cream cheese is my hands-down fave!

message 4: by Holli (new)

Holli Candy.....I love to eat candy when I read. Always have!!

message 5: by KrisT (new)

KrisT | 553 comments I usually have a variety of drinks, hot tea for morning reading and late afternoon breaks. I drink water all the time and since I gave up diet sodas I tend to want to snack but I can't read and eat for some reason so I have been drinking flavored waters.
*note: if I do get hungry though there is usually some crumbs in my library books ... ewww I know!! :P

message 6: by Jennifer W (new)

Jennifer W | 2175 comments I like to eat popcorn at night when I'm reading. When I was in college, my favorite study food was a (caffienated) root beer float, sugar and caffiene to keep me up, plus it could be drunk through a straw so I didn't have to stop reading or writing. :)

message 7: by Wanda (new)

Wanda (wanda514) Nutella and bananas! Really, Nutella and anything or sometimes just the open jar of Nutella and my book and water.

Do you ever have popcorn and root beer together? It is a great combination. We used to rent a house in the Outer Banks of North Carolina and the house's name was Popcorn & Root Beer. The story was that it was the family's favorite snack. We tried it and we were hooked, too.

Bloomin’Chick (Jo) aka The Eclectic Spoonie (bloominchick) KrisT- It's SO gross finding crumbs in library books! Bleah! Lol

If it's @ night & I'm reading in bed, then I'm snacking on Corn Pops right out of the box with a glass of AZ Iced Tea. (I know, completely unhealthy, but I love it so! I swear that stuff is like crack for me). Other times of the day I may be drinking a cup of green tea or water or Vitamin Water Multi. I don't really snack when I read during the day. (Sometimes I read during breakfast or lunch though).

message 10: by Katie (new)

Katie (katieisallbooked) | 319 comments I don't eat very often when I'm reading. I do enjoy a cup of tea though. Hot or iced are equally enjoyable.

message 11: by Kate (new)

Kate | 96 comments Popcorn with real butter (I know, I know).

Wine in the evening, coffee in the morning (I know, I know).

Bloomin’Chick (Jo) aka The Eclectic Spoonie (bloominchick) Kate, I'm a fan of real butter so I know, lol!

Bloomin’Chick (Jo) aka The Eclectic Spoonie (bloominchick) Geeze! Not sure what happened there but it won't let me delete my repeats!

message 14: by Debbie (new)

Debbie | 415 comments Tera, I've been munching the banana chips, lately, too!
Kate, YES to ALL 3 :-)

message 15: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (findingjackie) | 214 comments For me it's popcorn or light cheese and triscuits. My husband always knows to get the Triscuits with the green on the label and light Laughing cow cheese when I ask him for snacks. Sometimes I munch on Honey Nut Cheerios.

As for drinks: tea or Diet Sprite are my choices.

message 16: by Beth (new)

Beth Knight (zazaknittycat) | 130 comments If I'm reading during the day, I love to eat solid milk chocolate candy (Bliss is really good) and at night I like to eat popcorn, usually Popsecret Movie Theater Butter. I always drink Diet Coke, from sunup to sundown.

message 17: by Nancy (new)

Nancy I snack on whatever is around - cookies or my favorite - nuts. But my college-age-English-major daughter and I are so BAD. Our idea of a great time spent together (if not wandering Borders) is to walk into a restaurant, (usually Ruby Tuesdays) current books in hand and read while we wait for our orders. We end up talking over dinner of course. Our days are so busy, that sometimes it is the only time we get to bury ourselves in a good read.

message 18: by Mary (new)

Mary Crosthwaite I like to eat almonds or the sesame, honey crackers from Trader Joes. I try not to snack at all since I have a tendency to always overdue it. So who needs dinner anyway! hehehehe

message 19: by LinBee (new)

LinBee I usually like the read while I'm eating meals, so I'm reading while eating, not eating while reading! (Couldn't help it). But if I snack while reading, its usually water with chips and salsa. Mmmm.

message 20: by Cindy (new)

Cindy (cyndil62) | 1774 comments I always read while eating meals too! I also like to have Sweet-Tarts or Spree's handy while reading!

message 21: by Aksana (new)

Aksana | 68 comments Wanda514 wrote: "Nutella and bananas! Really, Nutella and anything or sometimes just the open jar of Nutella and my book and water. " Oh, yes, Nutella is the best! I don't snack on it though at night when I usually read, but it's awesome on waffles! I like to drink tea with dark chocolate squares (Dove) when I read.

message 22: by Holli (new)

Holli Cindy, I love Sweetarts!! Great reading snack... ;) And I also read while eating meals....dinnertime at my house is me reading and Brad watching TV. It works for us!!

message 23: by Cindy (new)

Cindy (cyndil62) | 1774 comments Holli, That's how it is here too! Me in the breakfast nook right off the kitchen, usually everyone else in the family room off the kitchen eating and watching tv!

Unless we have a 'family' moment which includes a touch of guilt for never sitting down at the table and eating together!

message 24: by Lisa Julianna (new)

Lisa Julianna (lisajulianna) | 80 comments I love to have a glass of wine in the evening with some cheese and crackers and of course my book. :~)

message 25: by Mary Jo (new)

Mary Jo (mjgemelke) | 20 comments Lately I've been eating sour gummy worms, but I also eat triscuits or whatever other crackers we have on hand.

message 26: by Patty (new)

Patty | 84 comments I think I could move in with either Kate (coffee, wine, popcorn w/ butter) or with Cindy (sweetarts and sprees!).

The wine is essential though....

message 27: by Lori (new)

Lori I'm on-board with the winos! A nice glass of wine with a book for a night time treat--I love it. It's an excellent way to relax after a long day. :)

message 28: by Patty (new)

Patty | 84 comments Oh the wine while soaking in a hot tub of water! No kids allowed!

message 29: by April (last edited Mar 09, 2009 11:13AM) (new)

April | 8 comments I love to drink skim milk or Diet sodas and munch on sugar free jello or wheat crackers!!! I usually only have snack attacks when I am bored. So when i'm deep into a good book I can't pause to snack. :o)

Ohhhhh and I can't forget my grande non-fat mocha mmmmm....so nice for a chilly late afternoon reading session.

message 30: by Kate (new)

Kate | 106 comments I like tea or a glass of wine! I don't really eat much when I am reading. To me, it is too hard to hold a book and put something in my mouth!

message 31: by Suze (new)

Suze (suzed) | 69 comments Eating while reading is my diet downfall because I don't pay attention, and invariably eat more than I intend to!

It's always coffee in the morning and water at night (I read very late at night, being a night owl), along with a few wheat thins, or an apple.

If I had chocolate in the house, that would be my choice. (which is why I don't have chocolate in the house)

message 32: by Robyn (new)

Robyn (roxy_nj) | 354 comments Huh. You know when I hunker down to read I don't always make a point of getting a snack. Never realized that.

message 33: by Keara (new)

Keara Clifford (KearaClifford) | 10 comments I like having cold water and either Honey Mustard pretzel bits (so good but messy) or I like to have mini Famous Amos cookies. Something small that I can just pop in. :)

message 34: by Dolly (new)

Dolly (dollya) I guess I just like either a good cup of coffee or tea, I don't usually eat while I'm reading.

message 35: by Stef (new)

Stef (buch_ratte) | 18 comments It depends on my mood. Most of the time I don't eat anything while reading but from time to time I need some chocolate or chips. I take whatever is available. But I always need something to drink. Can't go without it while reading.

message 36: by Brandie (new)

Brandie (brandiemichelle) Jo - I LOVE AZ Iced Tea!
I never usually snack while I read. My reason is because I read pretty late in the evening and I try not to eat after dinner so I don't keep packing on the lbs.

message 37: by Brittany (new)

Brittany (missbrittany) | 336 comments I generally need to READ while I EAT. lol! If I don't have company for a meal, I MUST have a book. Nothing tastes quite the same without one. :)

message 38: by [deleted user] (new)

A perfect cup of tea= milk, no sugar. Sometimes a pastry or just a bowl of fruit...crumbs must stay out of my book!

message 39: by Cecilia (new)

Cecilia (cissygold) I usually read while I am having breakfast in the morning, and at night I will have a glass of wine or a cup of tea with dessert.

In the summer I will keep a big glass of iced tea and popcorn or chips.

message 40: by Dolly (new)

Dolly (dollya) Andrea wrote: "A perfect cup of tea= milk, no sugar. Sometimes a pastry or just a bowl of fruit...crumbs must stay out of my book!"

I'm the same way Andrea, no crumbs in my books :) That is why I generally just have coffee/tea.

message 41: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Coffee in the a.m., diet cola in the afternoon/evening, water at night. No food--it disrupts my reading flow. What...I just realized if I read more, I'll eat less. That's a brilliant diet plan!

message 42: by KrisT (new)

KrisT | 553 comments I am with you on that one Lisa!!! ;)

message 43: by Wendy (new)

Wendy | 17 comments Little Debbie snack cakes are ideal for reading.Easily held in one hand while I turn pages with the other. And they're especially delicious when reading diet books or books where the characters bitch and moan about their weight.

message 44: by Aksana (new)

Aksana | 68 comments banana bread sounds so good, Kelly Jo!

Maggie the Muskoka Library Mouse (mcurry1990) Always a hot cup of tea, coffee, or hot cocoa. Sometimes chips, chocolate, or a nice crunchy apple.
