Laura | 500 comments The wonderful and amazing Abbi Glines has agreed to do a Q+A with us all here at the New Adult book club. She is the author of The Vincent Boys series, The Sea Breeze series, Fallen Too Far and also the YA fantasy series Existence. If you have not read any of her books yet then you definitely should. If you have any questions about her books, being an author or anything else you have always wanted to know then here is the place to ask them.

Please bear in mind that not everyone will have read all of Abbi’s books so if you want to ask anything that contains a spoiler, eg. Why did you end a book with …..? Then please use the spoiler button to hide it from those who have not read the book. If you do not know how to this it is < spoiler > then after the spoiler has ended spoiler > but without any spaces. It should look like this (view spoiler)

Hopefully you should all have a good chance of getting your questions answered. Though don’t expect Abbi to reveal the entire plotline of one of her next books just because you have asked :P

You have two weeks to ask your questions. I will start off all the questions –

You are a very successful author, did you ever expect it? It must be quite amazing as a self-published author to find your books on the New York Times bestseller list (as Fallen Too Far currently is congratulations) and to have big publishing companies re-releasing your books.

How many books do you plan to have in the Sea Breeze series? Are there even going to be any more? I do hope so.

What other books do you have in progress and do you plan to write a fantasy series like Existence for a New Adult audience?

Thank you again for agreeing to do the Q+A with the group.

Beth McCraw (betharina74) I think one question I would like to ask would be what inspires you to write your stories? I am new to your books, but am already a big fan!

message 3: by Bridget (new)

Bridget | 7 comments I grew up about 30 miles from Mobile. I love that when you are writing about places close to there I can picture them in my head. Roll Tide! Lol! That being said, my question is: Do you think there will be another story for Beau or Sawyer? I would love to read more about them maybe during their time away at college.

message 4: by Nadia (new)

Nadia (nadz158) I love all of your books and I cannot for your future releases I'm having withdrawals already ;) my question is, how do you go from just having an idea to a plot with characters and then a complete book? What is your procedure/routine or is every book differently written?

message 5: by Nadia (new)

Nadia (nadz158) Is the Q&A over? I cant see when it started, I'm on a different time schedule than the states. :( really sucks if I missed it!

message 6: by Laura (new)

Laura | 500 comments Only just started and will be going on for 2 weeks so you have lots of time to ask your questions :)

message 7: by Ali (new)

Ali Roberts (aliroberts) | 5 comments Who is the 5th Sea Breeze going to be about?

message 8: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Blakely | 39 comments Which of your books is your favorite and why?

message 9: by Emily (new)

Emily | 3 comments What pushed you to take the first step in writing a book?

Who is YOUR favorite author?

I love how your Sea Breeze books continually flow together, with the characters. Are you planning on doing this with the Fallen Too Far series? I loved Woods, I hope he doesn't fall through the cracks.

Um, I know thats more than one question.... :)

message 10: by Preet (new)

Preet (chanpreet) Abbi you seem to write books really quickly, which we readers love by the way, but are you the type of writer who is a plotter or someone who flies by the seat of their pants?

message 11: by Andrea (new)

Andrea (arivera4) | 13 comments Abbi, have you considered writting a book where the lead boy is maybe the shy one and the girl be the one from the wrong side of the track?

message 12: by Shelly (new)

Shelly Bell (shellybellbooks) | 9 comments Will you self-publish in the future or are you planning on publishing through the traditional publishers? Why or why not?

I wake up in awe everyday. I never in a million years expected so many readers would enjoy my books.

Sea Breeze will have several more books. I am not putting a number on it though. For 2013 I have Cage & Eva's sequel planned and Jason Stone will get a story. In 2014 I hope to give Dewayne and Krit both stories.

If paranormal/fantasy is still around by the end of the year then I am considering giving Leif a trilogy. It will be very NA.

I am so glad you found my books and you are enjoying them :)
As for inspiration... everything. Music, watching people, and then ideas just come to me out of the blue. One night I was trying hard to go to sleep with Fallen Too Far started playing out in my head. I got up and outlined the story right then.

I have considered writing a college years for both boys. But I'm just not sure yet...
And RTR #15

I always outline my idea before I begin. My characters may completely hijack my story and take over but at least I start with an idea. Cage was the last character I had that completely changed his storyline as I went. That happens but I stick with creating an outline anyway. It helps keep me focused. I have five books outlined for 2013.

You didn't miss it! I am just stopping in when I can and answering the questions left for me :)

message 18: by Abbi (new)

Abbi Glines (authorabbiglines) | 92 comments Ali wrote: "Who is the 5th Sea Breeze going to be about?"
Cage and Eva's sequel.

message 19: by Abbi (new)

Abbi Glines (authorabbiglines) | 92 comments Lauren wrote: "Which of your books is your favorite and why?"

The Vincent Boys. Because Beau was my first taste at writing bad boys and I loved it.

My husband bought me a Macbook one Christmas and said "Here. You want to write a book now you have no excuse." I had finished Breathe by that February.

Fallen Too Far and Never Too Far will be the "Too Far" series. I do intend to have a few spin offs from their story. I considered giving Grant a story. I didn't realize so many readers would want a story for Woods but they do! So yes, he'll probably get a story too.

Abbi Glines (authorabbiglines) | 92 comments Chanpreet wrote: "Abbi you seem to write books really quickly, which we readers love by the way, but are you the type of writer who is a plotter or someone who flies by the seat of their pants?"

I plot. I wish I could fly by the seat of my pants but I also think that is how writers get writer's block. If I don't know how a book is going to play out and even end I can't begin it. I need to know the twists and turns before I can begin it. Once I have that out on paper it takes me about seven to ten days to write the book.

message 22: by Britney (new)

Britney I love all of your books! But I really think you have a knack for paranormal! I read a lot of that genre and you hit the nail on the head with the Existence trilogy, which happens to be my favorite series of yours...though as I said, all your books are absolutely amazing!

I would really love to see some more paranormal books from you :)

message 23: by Abbi (new)

Abbi Glines (authorabbiglines) | 92 comments Andrea wrote: "Abbi, have you considered writting a book where the lead boy is maybe the shy one and the girl be the one from the wrong side of the track?"

Actually... Jason Stone is a pretty reserved guy and the girl who catches his attention in his book is rather.... wild. Coming this June ;)

message 24: by Abbi (new)

Abbi Glines (authorabbiglines) | 92 comments Shelly wrote: "Will you self-publish in the future or are you planning on publishing through the traditional publishers? Why or why not?"

Well... I self published Fallen Too Far which is currently my best best seller. It is my only book to make the New York Times and Wall Street Journal bestseller list. However, I still intend to publish through traditional publishers too. I like doing both. They both have their own pros.

message 25: by Britney (new)

Britney Abbi wrote: "Ali wrote: "Who is the 5th Sea Breeze going to be about?"
Cage and Eva's sequel."

Why did you choose them to make the sequal for? Not that i'm complaining!! I just mean what made you decide that specific couple? I think Sadie and Jax would be another great couple to write a sequel for ;)

message 26: by Laura (new)

Laura | 500 comments I too would love to read more Abbi Glines paranormal books. I dont think paranormal books will ever stop being popular. They wont always be the current big thing but they will always have lots of fans : )

message 27: by Laura (new)

Laura | 500 comments Woods is one of my favourite characters in Fallen Too Far. I would love for him to have his own story.

The reason I haven't written more paranormal is it is my least selling series. I have many who love Existence though. So I am on the fence with that...

They sold more copies the first time around :)
I told readers that if While It Lasts got down to #10 on Amazon's top 10 paid charts that I would give Cage and Eva a sequel... and it did.

I agree that paranormal will always have fans. But as a writer you have to write what is in demand if you want to make a living. Soooo I tend to stick with what is hot at the moment. I have a storyline for Leif a trilogy written down. I always intended to give him his own series. Hopefully that will happen this year :)

message 31: by Laura (new)

Laura | 500 comments I suppose that is where you being a fast writer must be very helpfull. You can get books written and released whilst they are still popular.

That's great!! As I said, I am soooo not complaining ;)
Was just curious as to why you chose them. Now I know and I can't wait to get my hands on it!!!

message 34: by Laura (new)

Laura | 500 comments I'm glad cage and Eva are having a sequel : ) will we get to see more of Preston and Amanda? Out of all your characters I feel that they are the ones that most have some story left to tell.

message 35: by Laura (new)

Laura | 500 comments Do you have release dates for the books you are releasing this year? If so what are they all?

message 36: by Demi (new)

Demi Aberson (mzcutz) | 3 comments I adored fallen to far when i first saw it i picked it because i wanted to see how you would deal with a bug issue like incest. But it seem incest was not even a slight issue for the characters. Why is this and is this due to change in the second book

message 37: by Britney (new)

Britney Laura wrote: "Do you have release dates for the books you are releasing this year? If so what are they all?"

Yes!! Please give us any and all release dates you have!! If you don't have the exact date...i'll settle for release months!! :)

message 38: by Laura (new)

Laura | 500 comments It would be really useful even if they still might change : ) I need to start planning when I'm reading books this year : P

message 39: by BW (new)

BW (bm1313) I am an Abbi Glines addict! And Fallen Too Far is my favorite book of the moment (though I've faithfully read and loved all your books!) :)

I have to know if we will get to read Nan's story? I can only imagine a pushy bad boy giving her a run for her money!

And a Woods story is a MUST!!

message 40: by Carol (new)

Carol read all of abbi books and I was wondering whether you will be doing astory on Rock , as he sounds adorable he keeps popping up in the sea breeze series. would love to hear more about him

I just wanted to say that I loved Fallen Too Far and I'm anxiously waiting for Never Too Far

Thank you for being so talented! :) You've given us all sleepless nights! :D

message 43: by Ashton (new)

Ashton | 6 comments I love the names of your characters. How do you choose names for the characters? I've told my husband my next born should be named Rush! lol :)

I do have one adult romance that I've had sitting on my Macbook for a long time. I keep meaning to work on it and release it. But I haven't found time. But every book I have lined up is either a Sea Breeze book or a spin off from the Too Far series.

Not yet. I have ideas in my heads as to when I'd like to release them but I'm not positive. Simon & Schuster may release the new Sea Breeze books and they may not. I don't know that yet.

I don't want to give away anything in Never Too Far BUT seeing as how they aren't blood related and didn't grow up as step siblings there is no incest involved.

Okay here is what I HOPE to release and when. This could change:
Never Too Far - March
Cage & Eva's sequel - April
Jason Stone's story - June/July
I was going to release Grant's story in September but I am thinking I may release Woods story in September instead.
AND possibly Leif's first book in December OR a completely new book. Not sure.
