A flock of sheep emerge from the hay barn and discover their shepherd dead. Who killed him? The sheep are determined to find out who the killer is and bring him or her to justice. I was completely engaged and interested in this very different murder mystery. Swann fills the book with philosophical ruminations, sprinkles in some ethics and morality, and adds a good dose of humor. It was a delightful surprise, and I’m glad I read it.

Oh - I have The Darkest Craving - maybe we could read together later this week to wash out Damien if it doesn't get better, lol
And you're bad for my pocket book - I ended up buying

well, some people liked it :D
I will say this. this author had a couple of books that didn't flow to me, Noah and Damien were those books to me.
Adam is a book that I really liked, but I felt was an after thought book.
I started reading her world of the nightwalker series because i thought it would bring in the old favorites. Book 1 didn't do it for me. I may try book 2 in the future
(not out yet)

Yikes...I need to read this book next (although I've put it off for a couple years yet. I loved Jacob and even thought Gideon was good. Elijah was not bad but I'm looking forward to Noah but have to get through Damien first and now it's not looking so good. What don't you like about it? Have you read the other books or is this your first?

Are y'all reading Damien as a buddy read? I read Frank's Forbidden and once I got past the 2 people 1 body issue I really enjoyed it but thought the prologue was a rip off as it was only there to tie in the Nightwalker Demons to this series otherwise they would have felt completely separate. I have the 2nd and 3rd in my tbr and I've been looking forward to them.

I did finish it yesterday. the characters were for the most part and the way overly descriptive passages. its one of those books you either love or don't.

Pat and I had done it as a buddy read - we have a thread set up for the last three - Damien, Noah and ?? I forget who the last one is.
Totally too descriptive in parts for why I didn't like it. Some of the characters - way to annoying. After Elijah and Sienna's book I was expecting more chemistry between the H/h - oh well

no way am I surprised. my next for the series is Wrath
& I did save you some (*Hands Melissa the eye-wash)

Balthazar Jones, his wife, Hebe, and their pet tortoise have lived in the Tower of London since he became a Beefeater. The central story revolves around their struggle to cope with the loss of their son. We come to know these two wounded souls by watching them at work. Interspersed with their stories we have tidbits of Tower factoids, and a reverend with a secret secular life. The result is a quirky love story, a mini-lesson in history, and a whimsical social commentary all rolled into one. Some of the scenarios were a little too over-the-top, but I was interested from beginning to end and enjoyed it overall.

Agreed. New species is very similar, more contemporary and less vulgar. (view spoiler) ["br"]>["br"]>

Thanks for letting me know I have barbs to look forward to in the future with this series too, lol. Parts of me are wincing....

Hot Heads--Griff seems more like an obsessed stalker and Dante seems like an airhead playboy. They don't seem to suit that well. Griff is more like a caretaker to an immature young man..it just doesn't seem like LOVE to me.
Re: New Species, I like it. It's a good smutty read right after a heavy UF book. It's a simple read too.
Truly, New Species is Breeds 2.0 or a revised, better Breeds.
on the barbs, they have to deep breathe and relax:D

The first Latina Supreme Court Justice chronicles her childhood, youth, training and experience on the road to becoming a federal judge. I found it interesting and I was captivated from the beginning. Rita Moreno does a wonderful job of narrating the audio version. She has an enthusiasm that is infectious and really brings life to the text.

I am listening to a fluffy book:

Nothing wrong with "fluffy" !!!

We know her as an incredibly talented comedian, actress, and producer of the Emmy-winning 30 Rock. Well, Tina Fey is also a pretty good writer. In this memoir she recounts her childhood in Pennsylvania, her start as a member of The Second City, her years at Saturday Night Live and her rise to creating and producing her hit TV show. I’m very glad that Fey is narrating the audiobook herself. I can’t imagine anyone else being able to do justice to it.

I really liked this one, and I don't usually like post-apocalyptic books.

Opening lines: In the desperate days of the Depression there was one constant that most people could count on – family. The novel tells the story of one family’s survival from 1935 to 1945. The situations and reactions of the characters are understandable and relatable. They struggle with moral decisions, guilt, grief, and deprivation, and support one another through tragedies. But they also celebrate small victories, and find strength in loving relationships.
