Vi | 2794 comments Hi Jim!

Layla, glad you like it! Please join us for the discussion.

I started it earlier today and I'm about 40% in. So far, I'm liking both Caroline and Simon. The SMS snippets included are fun!

Bookcrazy | 71 comments I've read it some time ago - the book is so funny :)

Tuğçe Gökırmak (tugcenidasevin) vi, i also enjoyed the sms part pretty much. though i has a little difficulty in the first quarter of the book finding some parts really funny, others quite annoying. and the missing"o" part totally annoying after sometime. but totally liked simon and caroline.

Jim son of Jim (formerly PhotoJim) (jim_formerly_photojim) | 5294 comments Going to start it tonight or tomorrow and should be done by the weekend.

message 9: by Vi (new) - rated it 3 stars

Vi | 2794 comments I've finished the book. I'll wait for you all to start before posting.

Nida, I think I enjoyed it more than you. The 'O' part was annoying. And I couldn't help but laugh at the ending. But, overall, it was good.

message 10: by Fran, Moderator (new) - rated it 4 stars

Fran | 12278 comments I have read 26%. I hope it gets better for me. I really like Caroline's friends but Caroline is just ok so far. Too much 'O' talk. And Simon- so far ugh. I don't like my heroes screwing many different women. And on consecutive nights. Eww. I want my heroes devoted, smitten, only able to focus on the heroine, not sleeping with any other women.

Fran | 12278 comments 54% done and getting better...

I still love her friends and like Caroline and Simon a lot better. The hot tub scene at the Tahoe house was really good, so cute and funny :)

message 12: by Vi (new) - rated it 3 stars

Vi | 2794 comments The 'O' talk was really annoying. I did not mind that part about Simon. I liked that the author portrayed him like that. It's not something I've read often. I'm liking how Caroline and Simon dealt with the aftermath of that hot tub scene.

message 13: by Fran, Moderator (new) - rated it 4 stars

Fran | 12278 comments I was talking about the friends issue in the hot tub- but I just read the rest of the hot tub scene....I felt so bad for Caroline!

message 14: by Fran, Moderator (new) - rated it 4 stars

Fran | 12278 comments I finished it. I did end up liking it.

Too much 'O' talk, but besides that it was humorous and sweet. I really enjoyed the kitchen/dining room scene towards the end when Simon comes back from his trip. That whole scene made me laugh. And all of the secondary characters added some nice extras to the story.

Becca (ladybeccaboo) | 40 comments What about Clive?! He was one of my favorite parts of the book :)

Tuğçe Gökırmak (tugcenidasevin) Sorry Fran & Vi,
I have lost this thread for the last few days and also my daughter had a small operation and now I am back :)
Vi, It's not that I didn't like it, apart from the 'O' talk, I thought it was funny and sweet in the second part. It was quite like sex and the city with sweeter characters and sweeter romance ;) I liked Simon and Caroline, well Clive as well. I enjoyed the wrongly matched couple thing, though I believe it could have made better with the same ending, the hot tub scene could have made funnier maybe.
The hot tub scene between Simon and Caroline was sad, but it was stupid of Simon to take it that far before deciding to stop all of a sudden. Their overall attraction and inability to stop themselves were really fun to read.
I also didn't mind Simon's women as he was not cheating or anything and I has a well thought reasoning.
So over all I enjoyed it, though I believe I have started with too much expectation...

Fran | 12278 comments Wishing your daughter a speedy recovery Nida!

I agree with you about the hot tub scene, loved the two couples but didn't love the way it played out between Caroline and Simon. Felt like one of those plot devices used just to create a little conflict and misunderstanding.

They were cute together, I also liked their banter and the sexual tension was sizzling.

I didn't like the women in the beginning, how Simon and Caroline met and the fact that he 'banged' three different women and they were supposedly all ok with that. All three knew they were only a certain night of the week to him and that there were others on different nights? For me, yuck. I just don't like that in my hero. But I got over it as it became obvious as the story went on that the women got dropped quickly and the 'wallbanging' stopped when he met her.

message 18: by Amy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Amy | 68 comments I found it charming and extremely funny. Laughing out loud often at Clive's antics. I really enjoyed banter between the characters.

Jim son of Jim (formerly PhotoJim) (jim_formerly_photojim) | 5294 comments I gave it three stars.

The good: I found a lot of the banter amusing. I liked the hot tub scene and how it played out. I liked the friends. I liked the boss. I loved Spain. The baking amused me. The musical choices were good. I liked the Exorcist scene.

The Not-So-Good: I work at a university where I deal with a lot of 18-22 year old people. I think most of them are more emotionally mature than our heroine. Hated just about everything to do with Clive. Clive's POV to close out the book? the worst. Why use a POV that has not been used throughout the book to put the final word on what the future holds? Doesn't work for me at all. The water failure was just not realistic and felt way too forced. At times the author felt like she was trying too hard to be dope. The 'O' talk was a bit much and repetitive.

Overall I liked it. I would certainly give the author another go. And while this is not at the top of my 'must read' list I'll probably end up recommending it to someone down the road. I'd be very interested in a novella or short story showing where they were five or ten years down the road.

Thank you for letting me read along with you.

Fran | 12278 comments Jim,
You sure summed that up perfectly.

I forgot to mention Clive in my review - i agree he was annoying and to end the book with his point of view was disappointing.

Glad you joined us!

message 21: by Vi (new) - rated it 3 stars

Vi | 2794 comments Argh! Commenting from my ipad is troublesome.

I rolled my eyes at most of Clive's antics - him seemingly talk? Or his meowing at Purina?

Also I couldn't believe Simon didn't hear Clive's howl considering their wall.

Jim son of Jim (formerly PhotoJim) (jim_formerly_photojim) | 5294 comments Exactly right on the thin walls working both ways.

Frankly I was a bit surprised at the overall lack of sex for a book that many listed as 'erotica'.

Tuğçe Gökırmak (tugcenidasevin) yeah! I totally agree with you in that Jim. the cover and the name and liatings i was expecting something erotic, not that i wanted another one but this one sure makes the reader think this book something else :)
