Sorry if you are a fan :D

this is my only book read in 2013 that I gave one star to
but it looks like I handed out the honor of 1 star to about 30 books last year :) I guess I'm not as stingy with my single star ratings as I thought! LOL

If I go back, I usually decrease the rating

The blurb sounded awesome, and I was happily waiting for the action/mystery to kick in... which happened near the end, then nothing, and then a little bit again and then nothing until the last page. :\

I agree :) I don't know how she can read that many. Almost 50 books in just 20 days.

Same here, also depends on the type of book, but with a mystery/thriller book it should have some speed. And I especially hate it when a blurb promises a good story with lots of mystery and death, and in the end nothing. :\

Sounds like they were stringing you along with the action.. That sucks. I hate slows books like that! Ugh. I hope your book year picks it and that you have no more 1 stars!

Yeah, it really sucks they do that. :( I thought it would be as good as his (yes the author was man) other book I read a while ago. Thanks, and thus far I haven't had another 1 rating. Though some of the 2 star rated books are actually more bordering on 1 than 2, but sadly there isn't a 1.5 star thing.

This book was horrible. The synopsis made it sound like I would be reading about a serial killer's daughters who have the urge and like to kill like he did. So I thought I was going to be reading some gruesome fun. I was totally not prepared for the, lack of a better word, stupidness of this book and all the paranormal mumbo jumbo that came with it. I'm usually one for a good paranormal story but this one was just dumb

I guess I was generous last year also, with only 1 star last year. I gave out quite a few 2's but only 1 was bad enough for a single star.

I don't usually give one star reviews unless the book really peeved me off. Normally if I really didn't like it I just don't review it. But, I had to read "The Magic" for my book club. I one-starred that crap. I felt like it was just ripping people off with a punch of BS "feel good" hooey. Like the author thought, "wow, I made so much money with The Secret. How can I make more? I know, I'll replace the word "positive thinking" with "thankfulness" and no one will realize it's the same book!"

OMG... That's just so wrong! You cannot write the same thing again just by changing characters and in this case, words. I hate that too Erin.
I remember last year, I read a few books similar to your case. The author simply released more books in the series, but the plots were just the same. Bad boys loved nice girls. Crazy ex-girlfriends appeared. Misunderstanding... blah blah blah... I was so disappointed since I loved the first book in the series so much.

Sorry to hear that. You must have been so disappointed.

I bet this happens when the author gets pressured for a second book but the story was basically already finished. It's never good when the book feels forced.

Yeah I really don't like hot guys in books much so since most people liked Daemon I didn't so the book was out for me

I didn't like Wrinkle in Time that much either. I didn't rate it one star though - I think I gave it 3.
I rarely read books that I find so bad I rate it 1 star. I think Twilight was one of the only ones...

I tried to read David Copperfeild...yeah, still haven't made it through.

Never?!?!? You are so kind then. I have rated 1 star to 3 books already this year.
