~KarenH~ | 11349 comments MountainKat, Fran and I are doing a buddy read of One True Thing. We're all starting it within the next day or two, so anyone who is interested is more than welcome to read it with us. If you've already read the book and want to join in the conversation, that would be great too!

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments LOL - I'm hopeless at following where everyone is at with Bingo!

OK, let me go see if I can buy the book! ;)

Fran | 12278 comments Jane,

I am starting it tomorrow and should be done with it in a few days. I can lend it to you if you want, no need to buy it :)

~Melissa~ | 2097 comments I can't join in with this one - too much on my plate but I'm going to lurk to see how you all like it☺

No hurry to catch up, I'm not doing anything fast!

~KarenH~ | 11349 comments I'm running behind - haven't started yet, but hope to this afternoon. And since we're being buried in wet, sloppy snow I have no interest in going out, so maybe I can catch up pretty quickly! :D

We had hail this morning, now just steady rain :(

message 15: by MountainKat, Moderator (new) - rated it 4 stars

MountainKat | 31602 comments We got some snow overnight, but the sun is peaking through now and then. It's really pretty outside!

message 16: by ~KarenH~, Moderator (new) - rated it 4 stars

~KarenH~ | 11349 comments Our forecast has been for rain for the last 3 days, but we've gotten almost 6 inches of snow instead (mostly yesterday and today, just a little bit on Saturday). I think we're just in some kind of weird weather pocket because the snow level is supposed to be above us by several hundred feet and even our local forecast from NOAA that is normally quite accurate didn't call for this, although they're finally mentioning snow now, a couple of days late...

MountainKat | 31602 comments I finished last evening! I loved it and didn't realize how much I wanted a happy ending for Dusty until I was reading it!

message 18: by Fran, Moderator (new) - rated it 3 stars

Fran | 12278 comments I finished it today. I really liked it. Not as much as One Small Thing but it was still good. The Archer/Asher storyline was not my favorite, but it was great to see Rue and Erik again, and I'm glad Dusty got his HEA. The ending, (view spoiler) was my favorite part.

message 19: by MountainKat, Moderator (new) - rated it 4 stars

MountainKat | 31602 comments I loved that part too Fran!!

I was really hoping Piper would wrap that up by the end of the book. I was crossing my fingers for that sweet scene :)

message 21: by MountainKat, Moderator (new) - rated it 4 stars

MountainKat | 31602 comments I was OK with the Archer/Asher story once Dusty realized they were twins and he wasn't beating himself up and so confused by what was happening. I was not a fan before that. Archer was an ass and (view spoiler) was awful, but at least Dusty knew what was going on then.

~KarenH~ | 11349 comments I'm running behind - life is conspiring against me, I think! :D Every time I sit down to read, something interrupts me, but I'm just about ready to lock myself in a room and hide - refraining from looking at the spoilers is driving me crazy...and thanks for that, by the way!

Fran - that would be great but I'm not quite ready to start on it just yet. I'll PM you if that is ok?

Thanks :)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments the whole Archer/Asher thing pissed me off - specifically the (view spoiler) - I mean I get the whole twin thing, but if you fucked me that way, i'd nail your balls to the wall, siblings/twins or not

Unfortunately, I've written off some family members over the years, but you can't even completely walk away. There is always someone/something that pulls you back together again. So I get the desire not to sever all ties, but I sincerely wish Asher would have stood up sooner!! Because sometimes there really is no choice!

message 26: by Dee (new) - rated it 3 stars

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments since i've basically been disowned by my father's side of the family (I only talk to them when forced - aka, he hands me the phone) - I don't have those strong familial ties...my crime - moving to the US for college/to join the Navy...

I agree. I so wish he just went to the police. I have to say, I would have written him off but to come up with the idea that they did...didn't like it. If Asher had called the cops maybe it would have been the wake up call Archer needed, but now...he will only spiral further downward.

Whenever you want it :)

message 29: by ~KarenH~, Moderator (new) - rated it 4 stars

~KarenH~ | 11349 comments I finished this morning, and I have to say I pretty much agree with everyone. Archer is a total ass and needed to be turned over to the police, but I can understand why Ash wasn't able to do that. I wasn't thrilled with the solution they came up with, but it was better than some of the other options, and it did get the problem solved. I loved seeing Dusty get his HEA - he and Ash were great together, and the ending was wonderful! ~sigh~

Now I'm hoping that Josh and Lane get to have their story told!

message 30: by Fran, Moderator (new) - rated it 3 stars

Fran | 12278 comments Oooh, I would love a Josh and Lane story! But only if Josh quits what he's doing. I wasn't thrilled with the porn story line :(

message 31: by MountainKat, Moderator (new) - rated it 4 stars

MountainKat | 31602 comments Hadn't he pretty much stopped by the end of the book? That was the impression I got anyway.

message 32: by ~KarenH~, Moderator (last edited Jan 30, 2013 01:39PM) (new) - rated it 4 stars

~KarenH~ | 11349 comments No, he'd just changed studios, but I did have the impression that his long-term goals were to get out of it. He was way too uncomfortable with too many aspects of it.

message 33: by MountainKat, Moderator (new) - rated it 4 stars

MountainKat | 31602 comments Oh, that's right. I guess it was the overall impression that stuck with me.
