M.D. (mdbenoit) | 115 comments I picked up Peter H Hamilton's Great North Road at the library. At more than 960 pages, it's a huge time investment. This is the first book I'd read of his. Anybody read it and can tell me if it's worth reading? I have 5 other books on my TBR pile.

Michelle (fireweaver) | 344 comments IMHO, if you have to be talked into it, the answer is no. no matter how good or bad anyone else says it is, you're the one who has to actually slog through it. there are times where you feel like sinking into a big doorstop like that, and times where you want something quick and breezy. if you're not feeling it right now, eh, skip and come back when you have a really long weekend all to yourself.

alternately, read the first chapter, and if it has you hooked, don't stop!

Aleksandra Royzen I haven't read Great North Road yet. However, I did read the whole "The Night's Dawn Trilogy" by Hamilton and that's 2956 pages!! I was also hesitant before I started. However Hamilton is one of my favorite authors and so I decided to give it a go. And I don't regret it one bit. I couldn't put it down, it took me almost a month but in the end I didn't want it to end.

Normally I would say try something else by him first, to see if you like him. Unfortunately all of his books are quite long. My favorite one of his is Pandora's Star and that's 992 pages :)

In short, since I'm Peter F. Hamilton fan, I say give it a go! And let me know how it is.

And that is only half of a book. I really like Peter Hamiltons books, so I would ay, give it try. At least this one is a standalone novel. I'm currently reading

The Temporal Void and that is a 750 page second book in a 3 book series, that is a follozw up to a 2000 pages 2 book series :-)
